Betting on the Charlotte Hornets (+4)
Regular Season Record: 43-39
The Hornets have some nice momentum going into the all-important game against Atlanta. LaMelo Ball and company have won their last three games of the regular season, including a 124-108 victory over the Washington Wizards at home last Sunday. The offense has been immense of late for Charlotte. The Hornets closed out the regular season with an average of 128.3 points on 55.4 percent shooting from the field in three games. They also shot over 45 percent from behind the arc during that stretch. Charlotte also won the last meeting with the Hawks, 116-106, at home last March, with ball scoring 22 points and dropping 11 dimes. Terry Rozier has stepped up of late, having averaged 20.7 points on 53.1 percent shooting during that Charlotte win streak.
The Hornets are 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 games. The Over is 4-2 in their last six outings.
Betting on the Atlanta Hawks (-4)
Regular Season Record: 43-39
Trae Young and the Hawks are ready for Charlotte. They ended their regular season with a dominant 130-114 road win over the Houston Rockets Sunday, with Young leading his squad with 28 points to go with 11 assists. Atlanta will be a problem for the Hornets partly because this Hawks team has good playoff experience, making a deep run in last year’s postseason. Plus, the Hawks will look to take advantage of Charlotte’s defense that’s been constantly abused by teams in the regular season. In four meetings with the Hornets in the regular season, Atlanta averaged 115.3 points per game on 48 percent shooting from the field. Kevin Huerter could be the x-factor in this game for Atlanta, as he’s averaged 18.0 points on 52.1 percent shooting in all games in the regular season versus the Hornets.
The Under is 2-1 in the Hawks’ last three home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Hawks win, 121-115.
