Betting on the Chicago Bears (odds)
Regular Season Record: 1-1
Matt Nagy will stick with Andy Dalton as the projected starter of the Bears in the regular season, but the call for Justin Fields to get that role is growing louder and louder each passing week. In Week 2 of the preseason, Dalton didn’t play great enough to silence down the Fields crowd, as he went 11 of 17 for 146 passing yards and a touchdown and an interception in a 41-15 home loss to the Buffalo Bills. At the very least, Bears fans can expect to see a lot of Fields this coming Saturday, as starters likely would get full rests. Fields had 80 passing yards on 9-of-19 completions against the Bills. He also led the team with 46 rushing yards on four carries. If Fields will be let loose this week, there should be more to expect of the Bears’ offense.
The over is 4-1 in the Bears’ last five games in the preseason.
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (odds)
Regular Season Record: 2-0
The Titans’ defense has been something else in the preseason. After their 23-3 road win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, the Titans took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Saturday, 34-3. No touchdowns have been scored so far against Tennessee’s stop unit in this preseason. Against the Bucs, the Titans’ secondary got a big hand from a pair of young cornerbacks in Elijah Molden and Caleb Farley. Molden impressed the Titans with his play, especially out of the nickel slot from which he managed to record a sack. The Titans had three sacks in that game for a loss of 19 yards for Tampa Bay. Given the Bears’ problem in pass protection, the Titans’ pass rush might have a big day ahead of them in Week 3. The Bears allowed four sacks in their loss to Buffalo.
The under is 5-4-1 in the Titans’ last 10 preseason games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Titans win, 23-13.
