Pitching Edge – Kansas City Royals (-160)

The Royals have to feel really confident with Danny Duffy (8-1, 2.97 ERA) toeing the rubber this evening. Duffy added another strong start to his fine season at the expense of the Blue Jays last Saturday. In that game, the lefty pitched for 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball to help the defending champions bag home the 4-2 triumph. The Royals are now 8-0 in Duffy’s last eight starts.

As for the visiting White Sox, they are sending Miguel Gonzalez (2-6, 4.09 ERA) on the mound. He’s gone 0-2 with a 3.41 ERA in his last five starts. Gonzalez is also just 1-4 with a 4.58 ERA in six career starts versus Kansas City. That’s not good news for Chicago.

Batting Edge – Kansas City Royals (-160)

Kansas City is far more consistent at the plate compared to the White Sox. The Royals currently rank sixth in the majors in batting average (.263). That efficiency, however, has barely resulted to runs as they are only averaging 3.85 per game, which is among the worst overall.

Maybe Eric Hosmer, who leads the team in batting  average, RBIs, OBP and hits, will be the one to start lighting up the scoreboard for the Royals tonight. He also holds a respectable triple-slash line of .293/.361/.429 at home this season.

Writer’s Prediction: Royals (-160) win it, 5-2.
