Betting on the Detroit Lions (odds)
Regular Season Record: 0-8
The Lions are the only winless team remaining this season. Detroit is coming off a much-needed bye in Week 9, and will look to finally get that elusive win when they take on the Steelers on the road this coming Sunday. The last time they were on the field, the Lions absorbed a 44-6 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Quarterback Jared Goff put up yet another letdown performance in that game, passing for 222 yards and zero touchdowns on 25/34 completions while getting sacked five times for a loss of 45 yards. While it’s easy to dismiss the Lions’ chances of upsetting Pittsburgh in Week 10, one could also remember that the New York Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars recently scored victories as huge underdogs. Coming off a long rest heading into a game against a Steelers team that almost got upset at Heinz Field by the Chicago Bears, who knows if this Detroit pulls off a stunner on Sunday.
The Lions are 2-0 against the spread too in their last two road games.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 5-3
The Steelers escaped with a 29-27 home win over the Chicago Bears in Week 9. With that, Pittsburgh has gone undefeated in four games, a stretch that includes their victories over the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, and the Cleveland Browns as well. Although Ben Roethlisberger is way past his prime, he’s still getting the job done under center. He had 205 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 21/30 completions against the Bears. He was also sacked four times for a loss of 30 yards, but he could expect a cleaner pocket in Week 10 against the Lions, who posted zero sacks in their loss to the Eagles. And given how bad the Lions are against the run, rookie tailback Najee Harris can take off again in Week 10. Defensively, look out for TJ Watt to wreak havoc against Detroit’s weak offensive line. Watt had all three Pittsburgh sacks against the Bears.
The over is 2-0-1 in the Steelers’ last three home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Steelers win, 27-14.
