Dominika Cibulkova’s edge (-260):
Cibulkova is having a breakout campaign at Wimbledon. Well, sure she’s made the quarterfinals at All England Club before in 2011, but his Wimbledon resume is littered with first and third round exits. After beating third-ranked Agnieszka Radwanska, 6-3, 5-7, 9-7, however, Cibulkova appears to be bound for more success in the tournament. Cibulkova had 56 winners versus Radwanska, which should strike fear into Vesnina. Cibulkova won each of the last two meetings with Vesnina, the latest being a 7-5 6-1 in Moscow last year.Elena Vesnina‘s edge (+200):
Vesnina barged into his first Grand Slam quarterfinals following a hard-earned but entertaining 5-7, 6-1, 9-7 win over Ekaterina Makarova in the fourth round. Vesnina’s won 53 of her 76 first serve points for 61 percent to go with six aces and 52 winners. She was also a picture of resiliency in that match with five break points won as against only three by Makarova. Vesnina is a big threat especially when she’s attacks the net so expect her to employ that game plan against Cibulkova, who must be playing on tired legs following a lengthy match with Radwanska. Vesnina defeated Cibulkova in their lone grass court match, which was a 7-5 4-6 6-4 victory back in the 2009 Wimbledon.
Writer’s Pick:
Vesnina (+200) wins in three sets.
