Favorites: Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick

It’s been an adventure for Larson over his past few races. In his past start, Larson finished 12th at the GEICO 500. That came on the heels of a 14th-place finish at the Toyota Owners 400 late April.  Despite missing the top 10 in both races, Larson comes into Kansas City favored to win the Bowling 400 with a price of +550. Similar to Larson is Harvick, who is also carrying a +550 odds to win in Kansas City.

Harvick seems to like racing at the Kansas Speedway. In four career appearances at the track since 2015, Harvick has won one and placed inside the top 5 three times. His 5.25 average finish there is second best among all drivers.

Sleeper: Matt Kenseth

Inconsistency hounds Kenseth (+1,800) this season but he still deserves a hard look this weekend.  Larson was just 24th at the GEICO 400 and finished 23rd at the Toyota Owners 400. Those performances will not set him up with shorter odds for Go Bowling but keep in mind that he’s done well at the Kansas Speedway. Kenseth has a 7.3 average finish at the race track in his last 10 races there. That’s the second best among drivers in the series. On top of that, he’s also won the event before, winning it back in 2013.

Long Shot: Austin Dillon

Dillon (+7,500) used to have better outings in 1.5-mile tracks. During his first seven starts in those track types last year, he had an average finish of 11.9. That figure has plummeted to 27.9 in his last six tries. But who knows, Dillon might capture his form again. He was sixth in last year’s edition of the Go Bowling 400.
