Betting on the Green Bay Packers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 7-1
Even without Davante Adams and Allen Lazard, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers found a way to lead Green Bay to a 24-21 win over the previously undefeated Arizona Cardinals in Week 8 on the road. Rodgers passed for 184 yards and tossed two touchdowns on 22/37 completions against Arizona while throwing mostly to running back Aaron Jones and Robert Tonyan. The tight end is now on the injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in the Cardinals game, but Adams and Lazard are both expected to return after missing Week 8 due to COVID-19 protocols. Given how bad Kansas City’s defense this season, Rodgers must be salivating over the prospect of having plenty of time in the pocket against the Chiefs, who have the second-lowest sack rate in the NFL.
The Packers are 7-0 against the spread in their last seven games overall.
Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (odds)
Regular Season Record: 4-4
The Chiefs defeated the New York Giants at home in Week 8 to the tune of a 20-17 score. It wasn’t obviously a dominant victory the Chiefs would have preferred, but a win is a win, which sounds more crucial for them when you consider how important having momentum is going into a matchup against the red-hot Packers team. Patrick Mahomes went 29/48 for a touchdown. He still got picked and lost a fumble, though. Mahomes needs to clean up his errors. Giving extra possessions to opposing teams is never ideal, but especially when up against Rodgers and the Packers. Tight end Travis Kelce will look to bounce back after a letdown performance in Week 8.
The Chief, who are averaging 26.0 points this season, are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games after a loss.
Writer’s Prediction
The Packers win, 30-24.
