Betting on Julia Goerges (-210)
Julia Goerges made quick work of her Citi Open round-of-32 foe, Francoise Abanda, 6-4, 6-4. Goerges’ serve was on point in that match, as she won 79 percent of first serves and 56 percent of second serves, and fired nine aces.
It was a nice bounce-back win for the 28-year-old German, who had to retire from her last match against Viktoriya Tomova in the first round of the Ericsson Open.
While Goerges went just 7-7 overall on clay, she still made a final at Bucharest. She’s also been pretty good everywhere else, as her very good 26-16 record can attest.
Goerges went 10-5 on hard court and 5-2 on indoor hard court, although she failed to make the final of any tournament on the surface as she did on clay and grass.
Betting on Alison Van Uytvanck (+165)
Alison Van Uytvanck rallied from a disastrous second set to defeat Jana Cepelova, 7-5, 0-6, 6-1, in her Citi Open round-of-32 matchup.
The World No. 104 hasn’t had too many matches in main draws on tour this season. However, she did manage to qualify for the first round of both the French Open and Wimbledon, and managed to get one of her three main draw wins of the season with an upset of World No. 46 Naomi Osaka at Roland Garros.
The 23-year-old Belgian hasn’t had many other signature wins apart from that, although one did come on hard court. She knocked out countryman and World No. 65 Elise Mertens in straight sets at the Miami Masters.
Writer’s Prediction
