Betting on the Kansas City Royals (-105)
Things aren’t looking too well for the Royals with Edinson Volquez (9-10, 5.04 ERA) set to take the hill in tonight’s series finale. He’s been flat-out awful in his last five outings, surrendering total of 26 runs (22 earned), six homers and 41 hits during that stretch. But the reigning World Series champs can take some confidence on the fact that Volquez pitched brilliantly in his last start (Aug. 7, 2014) versus the Marlins, allowing just one hit and zero runs in seven innings of work.Well, it’s been more than a year since that happened so there’s a relatively strong chance for Volquez to continue his struggles. Hence, the Royals need Lorenzo Cain to light up the plate for them. He currently leads the team in batting (.292) and OBP (.337), while also boasts a career triple-slash line of .300/.333/.450 against the Marlins.
The Royals are 6-4 SU in their last 10 road games. They are also priced at +1,800 to repeat as AL champions.
Betting on the Miami Marlins (-105)
Miami’s fate is literally in good hands with Tom Koehler (9-8, 3.82 ERA) on the mound. He’s been the team’s best starter since the All-Star break, garnering an ERA of 1.62 and a total of 30 strikeouts in six starts. But it’ll be very interesting to see if Koehler can keep it going versus the Royals. He was rocked for five earned runs on nine hits in his lone career start in that matchup.
Given this, it’s very crucial for the Marlins to back the righty up with some major contributions at the plate. They will look to either Martin Prado or Christian Yelich to deliver in some key runs for the club. Both have performed very well this season.
Prado, Miami’s leading batter (.319) and hitter (152), has gone 2-of-7 in the first two games of the series. Yelich, meanwhile, went 1-of-3 with two RBIs in yesterday’s second game and is batting .303 at home. He also carries a team-high of 74 runs batted in.
The Marlins are 5-5 SU in its past 10 home games. They are also solidly priced at +1,500 to win the NL pennant.
