The Brewers saw their four-game win streak get snapped Sunday as they lost their series finale against the Boston Red Sox on the road to the tune of a 7-2 score. Still, they are in a good form heading into a showdown with the struggling Pirates. Taking the mound for the Brewers in this upcoming contest will be Corbin Burnes, who is one of the best in the business today. Burnes has an 8-4 record and a 2.31 ERA along with a fantastic 0.92 WHIP. Milwaukee has won in each of Burnes’ last three starts, including a 10-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins on July 27 at home where he pitched for six innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits while also fanning out 11 batters. The Brewers’ offense is slashing .240/.320/.417 this season.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Pirates (+1.5)
Regular Season Record: 40-62
The Pirates suffered yet another loss on Sunday, falling prey to the Philadelphia Phillies at home, 8-2, to get the short end of a four-game sweep. Pittsburgh has now lost all of their last seven games and is just 1-9 in 10 games since the 2022 MLB All-Star break. Taking the mound for the Pirates in this upcoming contest will be Bryse Wilson, who is just 1-6 with a 6.31 ERA and 1.60 WHIP so far this season. In his last start, Wilson surrendered three earned runs on six hits in 6.0 innings of a 4-2 road loss to the Chicago Cubs on July 26. It should also be noted that Wilson has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last four starts. The Pirates’ offense is slashing .219/.287/.363 this season.
