[sc:NFL240banner ]Most of CBS Sports’s football experts have been pretty successful picking games against the spread this year, with Jason La Canfora leading the way with a 40-23 record. He, along with the rest of the top five handicappers, were in agreement that Jacksonville would at the very least cover the 3.5-point spread (Top Bet has the spread at 3) on the road against rookie Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It’s certainly not hard to argue against that pick, seeing as how Winston has had some Blake Bortles-esque problems with picks. He had four INTs alone in last week’s loss to the Panthers, and seven on the year.

That was their only unanimous pick of the week, but they were nearly unanimous with the Titans and Bears also covering as underdogs. Meanwhile, majority also felt strongly about the Cardinals, Patriots and Giants to cover as significant favorites.

It’s hard to bet against the Patriots at the moment, especially after they’ve dropped 40 and 51 points in consecutive games prior to their bye. But don’t completely count out the Lions and 49ers against the Cardinals and Giants, respectively. Detroit was possibly a missed call away from beating the Seahawks at Seattle, while the Niners defense made Aaron Rodgers and the Packers work.

Fox Sport’s cast of top experts in picking winners (and the simulation site WhatIfSports) were all on the same page with this week’s games. All five unanimously went with the Bills, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers, and Patriots to win this week. But while everyone is still pretty high on the Chiefs despite being just 1-3, it’s interesting to know how many of them actually think they can cover a huge 9-point spread against the Bears.

Just about the only games where the experts had a 3-2 split were Thursday night’s Colts-Texans game, and Seattle-Cincinnati. It’s a bit surprising to see the majority siding with the road teams (the Colts and Seahawks) in those games, especially with Andrew Luck’s status still up in the air, and the Seahawks’ struggles on offense. The Colts are currently 2-point underdogs against the Texans, but that could yet change if Luck does play.

The seers over at SB Nation are showing a lot of faith in the Cincinnati Bengals, with all five of the most successful staffers at picking games betting on the Bengals to beat Seattle at Cincy. The 5-0 Bengals, who are 3-point favorites at home, have looked terrific this season with Andy Dalton playing the best football of his life. This game won’t be in primetime, when Dalton has perennially struggled, so maybe picking the Bengals to win might not be so crazy after all.

However, it could be a bit more questionable to put faith in the Buccaneers, Ravens and Eagles, whom the experts picked 4-1 to win their respective games. Granted, all three will be at home, but there’s a reason all three are also 1-3 on the season.
