Djokovic dismissed his Round of 16 opponent, Ugo Humbert, with ease in three straight sets. Goffin had a bit more of a battle in his Round of 16 match against Verdasco which took four sets after dropping the second 6-2. But here they are in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon where the sportsbook favors Djokovic at -2000 while vs Goffin is priced at +1000. Djokovic is 5-1 all time against Goffin, winning 83% of the time, yet the more youthful Goffin won the last meeting between the two, in a quarterfinal at the ATP Masters 1000 Monte Carlo in Monaco on outdoor clay.

Betting on Novak Djokovic (-2000)
Djokovic booked a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Wimbledon men’s singles after sending Ugo Humbert home with an easy 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 victory in the Round of 16. Djokovic is in terrific form in London. In fact, he has lost just one set so far in the tournament. Djokovic was in control of his serves against Humbert, placing 70 percent of his serves in and winning 78 percent of his first-serve points. He was even more accurate with his second serves, winning 80 percent of points in those serves. He did not give Humbert much of a hope, giving up zero break-point chances while converting five of nine break points himself. This is going to be Djokovic’s first time meeting Goffin on grass, though, he has beaten the Belgian on five occasions out of six total meetings. This is also going to be their second Grand Slam showdown, with the first coming way back in 2013, when the Serbian scored a victory over Goffin in the first round of that year’s French Open.
Betting on David Goffin (+1000)
One can say that Djokovic has yet to battle a quality opposition to date at the 2019 Wimbledon, but while Goffin isn’t a top-10 player, he can still be viewed as a much tougher test than anyone Djokovic has faced in the first four rounds of the tournament. Goffin is a former top-10 player, who’s also seen a lot of Djokovic. He even beat Djokovic in their most recent meeting, eking out a 6-2 3-6 7-5 victory in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Monte Carlo Masters over the current No. 1 player in the world. To get into the quarterfinals, Goffin took out Fernando Vasco in the Round of 16 via a marathon 7-6 (11-9), 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory. Against Verdasco, Goffin put 64 percent of his first serves in play and won 79 percent of his first serve points. Goffin has never reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon before.
Writer’s Prediction
