Betting on the Oregon Ducks (+3.5)
Marcus Mariota has been away from Oregon for some time now but the Ducks’ offense still has lots of pop in it. After pummeling UC Davis in the opener, 53-28, Oregon decimated Virginia next to the tune of a 44-26 victory. Both games were at home and now, the Ducks will be making their first trip away from Eugene, when they take on Nebraska. Oregon isOregon, which is 9-1 SU and ATS in its last 10 games as the road team dating back to 2014, is enjoying what it’s seeing from quarterback Dakota Prukop thus far this year. Prukop has 602 passing yards and six touchdowns without an interception through the first two games of the season.
Nebraska’s no joke on defense but Prukop has the weapons and the support around him to give the Cornhuskers tons of headache. Among those is running back Royce Freeman, who’s one of the best running backs in the nation. Freeman has 294 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the season and is averaging 9.2 yards per carry. Prukop’s receiving group, meanwhile, includes the likes of Darren Carrington and Devon Allen, who have 176 and 141 receiving yards, respectively.
Oregon is 14th in the nation in scoring offense with 48.5 points per game.
Betting on the Nebraska Cornhuskers (-3.5)
Oregon is wary of the Cornhuskers’ defense but it should too of Nebraska’s offense.
The Cornhuskers mauled Fresno State in the opener, 43-10, and proceeded to unleash fury on Wyoming the next week on their way to a comfortable 52-17 victory.
With an explosive attack, it’s not going to be much of a surprise if Nebraska found a way to poke holes on Oregon’s questionable pass defense that allowed UC Davis to gain 303 passing yards. Quarterback will have that in mind as he tries to follow up his fantastic performance in the Wyoming game with another one. Armstrong threw for 377 yards with three touchdowns and interception
Defensively, the Cornhuskers’ secondary appear to be up to the task of bottling up Oregon’s receivers. Nebraska is tied for most interceptions in the nation with seven.
Nebraska is 3-0 SU and ATS in its last three games as the home team.
