The first PGA TOUR event this June will bring loads of money for the top finishers. Last year, John Rahm won the Memorial Tournament and for that, he laughed his way to the bank with a check amounting to $1.674 million — the largest ever in the history of the tournament. Will Rahm win again at Muirfield Village this time around? The competition will be stacked with elite talent, though, so right now, you can say that it’s anybody’s tournament to win. Tiger Woods is the winningest player of the Memorial Tournament with five victories (1999, 2000, 2001, 2009, 2012). Kenny Perry won it three times (1991, 2003, 2008), while the legendary Jack Nicklaus, Hale Irwin, Greg Norman, and Tom Watson each won the event twice.

This will be the first time since 2015 that there would be no annual increase to the winner’s prize. The first time the Memorial Tournament was held, Roger Maltbie edged Hale Irwin via a playoff back in 1976. With his win, Maltbie took home $40,000. Irwin would win his first of two Memorial Tournament titles in 1983 when he also cashed in $72,000. Irwin also was the first player to win $100,000 in the Memorial Tournament when he topped the field in 1985. Carl Pettersson is the first-ever million-dollar winner of this tournament in 2006 when he took home $1.035 million.
