Betting on the Philadelphia Phillies (odds)

Regular Season Record: 46-40

It’s uncertain as of this writing who the Phillies will be sending to the mound to start this game against the Blue Jays. In any case, Philadelphia is in the top 10 in the majors in terms of starters ERA and starters FIP. Moreover, Phillies starters are getting above league average run support per nine innings. With Bryce Harper still nursing an injury, the Phillies will be hoping for the likes of Kyle Schwarber and Rhys Hoskins to make things happen at the plate. Schwarber and Hoskins both have OPS of over 1.0 over their last 13 games (ahead of the final game of the series against the St. Louis Cardinals this Monday night).

Betting on the Toronto Blue Jays (odds)

Regular Season Record: 45-42

The Blue Jays will play their remaining games before the 2022 MLB All-Star break at home, and they will be hoping that going back to friendlier confines will be the cure to their slump. Toronto just got swept in a four-game road series against the Seattle Mariners and has lost all but one of its last seven games – all away from Canada. On the mound for Toronto this Tuesday is Jose Berrios, who is 6-4 with a 5.44 ERA and 1.39 WHIP this season so far. The Blue Jays are 2-0 in Berrios’ last two starts, including their 2-1 road win over the Oakland A’s on July 6 wherein he allowed just an earned run on 4 hits in 6.0 innings of mound duty.

Writer’s Prediction

The Blue Jays win, 5-4.
