America’s favorite pastime is back, sort of. With Taiwan able to flatten the curve like a Gua bao bun the world once again has baseball to cheer for in the form of Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) play. The regular season hit full swing last week, complete with robots and cardboard cutouts in the stands. With the cobwebs shaken off and free live streaming for a U.S. audience figured out (through the Eleven Sports Network) baseball fans and bettors are clamoring to get in on the action. The first featured betting preview this week is for the league’s top squad and 2019 CPBL Champsions, the Rakuten Monkeys, who will slug it out with the Chinatrust Brothers this coming Wednesday. Betting on the Rakuten Monkeys (5-0 Regular Season Record)
“Hey hey it’s the Monkeys” which is something the Chinatrust Brothers say with fear in their voices. Rakuten absolutely owns Chinatrust in the most lopsided manner possible. The last time these two teams met was back in the CPBL Playoffs in October, a game where which Rakuten (which were known at the time as the Lamingo Monkeys) slaughtered Chinatrust 20-3. Entering the game Rakuten was favored by SofaScore with a 54.55% win prediction. With little movement in team personnel in light of the PANICdemic, Rakuten’s dominance over Chinatrust is expected to continue into this Wednesday’s game. The Monkeys are undefeated thus far in the new season. In three of their last four games they won with run totals in the double-digits, with exception of their last game on Sunday against the Fubon Guardians which resulted in a rare but exciting (for the CPBL) bench clearing brawl after former Houston Astros’ Henry Sosa drilled at-bat Monkeys infielder Kuo Yen-Wen. That game ended at 3-1 in favor of the league’s leader.

Betting on the Chinatrust Brothers (2-4 Regular Season Record)
OK, so a Chinatrust Brothers win against Rakuten is highly unlikely, but from a betting perspective they may be able to keep this one close enough to deliver a payday for those who wager accordingly. The Monkeys will hit in at least a dozen runs, but what about the Bros? In their last six games the Brothers average just 4 RBIs. However, they are carrying some momentum coming into this Wednesday’s game, having won the three game series against the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions (catchy names, right?) by 2-1 with an average of over 5 RBIs. Not a great number in this high-scoring league, but it’s a small silver lining.

The Rakuten Monkey put another win in their sock, beating the Brothers 13-3.
