The Washington Capitals just keep on winning. After scoring a 6-2 win on Sunday over the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Caps are now up 2-0 in the series, putting them two wins away from earning a slot in the Stanley Cup Finals. Will the Caps take a step closer to that with a win this Tuesday? Or will the Lightning cut their series deficit in half?

Betting on the Tampa Bay Lightning (+1.5)
It’s time for the Lightning to return the favor to Washington. After letting the Caps steal two games in Tampa Bay, the Bolts are now in desperate need of a win to avoid falling to a dreaded 3-0 series hole. Lightning netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy has to be in top form in Game 3. He has let his team down so far in this series as he has given up some lousy, stoppable goals to Washington. He has allowed 10 goals in the last two games, so it won’t be that surprising for Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper to start backup Louis Domingue in Game 3. One thing the Lighting are doping right is keep scoring on the power play. They went 2-for-4 on the power play in Game 2, extending their streak of games with a power play goal to seven games going back to Game 1 of the second round against the Boston Bruins.
They are 3-0 in their last three road games.
Betting on the Washington Capitals (-1.5)
The Caps are two wins away from moving on to the Stanley Cup Finals. Before they get too excited, they have to take care of business at home in Game 3. If Tampa Bay’s recent form in the nation’s capital is any indication, then Washington must very much like its chances this Tuesday. That’s because the Caps are 8-2 in their last 10 home games against Tampa Bay. Apart from that, the Capitals’ offense has simply been near-unstoppable in the playoffs. They are tops among playoff teams with an average of 3.79 goals per game. Their power play has also been impressive with a 32.6 percent success rate after going 1-for-3 in Game 2. Alex Ovechkin who had a goal and an assist on Sunday, has 10 goals and nine assists in the past 14 games.
Writer’s Prediction:
Washington wins, 4-3.
