Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (15-6 Overall / 3-5 Conference)

The Horned Frogs have been wobbly of late, though, anyone could really get shaken up in the Big 12. After losing to No. 16 Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock on Jan. 28, 84-65, TCU got crushed again by the Baylor Bears in Waco last Saturday, 90-64. The manner with which the Horned Frogs lost those two games is an extremely troublesome sign of what state they are currently in heading into a matchup with the Oklahoma State Cowboys at home this Wednesday. The Horned Frogs’ defense has been treated like a punching bag of late by opponents, with the Red Raiders shooting 54.2 percent against TCU and the Bears nailing 55.6 percent of their shots. TCU will have to tight up its defense, an obvious adjustments the Horned Frogs have to make but has showed difficulty in executing. The Horned Frogs are allowing 68.0 points per game, but has given up an average of 74.7 in three games prior to the meeting with the Cowboys.

TCU is 2-0straight up (SU) and 2-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last two games on the road against Iowa State.

Betting on the Iowa State Cyclones (18-5 Overall / 7-3 Conference)

Iowa State’s winning streak continues. It has now beaten four opponents in a row, including the Oklahoma Sooners, who absorbed a 75-74 loss in Norman at the hands of the Cyclones on Monday.  The Cyclones used a balanced attack to thwart Oklahoma. Marial Shayok paced the team with 16 points, while Lindell Wigginton came off the bench and fired 18 with four 3-pointers. Shayok has been a solid presence for Iowa State, which gets 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds from the transferee from the Virginia Cavaliers program. With how TCU ‘s defense has looked like recently, Shayok and Wigginton must be licking their chops over the prospect of smothering the Horned Frogs with their offense. KenPom has Iowa State’s offense second in the conference. The Cyclones are even tops in the conference in scoring with 78.8 points per game on 48.2 percent shooting from the field – also No. 1 in the Big 12.

Iowa State is 9-1 (SU) and 7-3 (ATS) in its last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Iowa State wins, 78-69.
