FAVORITES
Chase Elliott (odds)
Elliott has cooled off lately, as he has not cracked the top 20 in any of his last four races. In his last start, Elliott was just 21st in the 2022 Enjoy Illinois 300 presented by TicketSmarter at World Wide Technology Raceway. However, Elliott remains a driver to watch out for in any race, including in this upcoming event at Sonoma Raceway, where he has a career average finish of 14.4.
Kyle Larson (odds)
In 12 starts this season, Larson has managed to come up with six top 5s and eight top 10s. He has a win thus far, topping the field and getting the checkered flag in the 2022 Wise Power 400 at the Auto Club Speedway, though, that was way back in February. Nevertheless, Larson is a proven driver at Sonoma Raceway. In fact, he won the 2021 edition of the Toyota Save Mart 350
Martin Truex Jr. (odds)
Truex is another proven driver at Sonoma Raceway, as he has a total of three career wins on that track. He’s just been a much better driver when he’s driving there, as evidenced by the fact that he’s won in two of his last three starts at Sonoma Raceway. The other non-win race in that stretch for him? That was a third place at the 2021 Toyota Save Mart 350.
SLEEPERS
William Byron (odds)
Here’s what we said about Byron in our 2022 Toyota / Save Mart 350 sleepers preview:
Bowman has already copped a win this season, but he’s not stopping there. He’s been decent over his last few starts, having finished in the top 10 in three of his four most recent races, which include a ninth place at the 2022 AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway and a sixth place at the 2022 NASCAR All-Star Race. He also settled for 10th place at the 2022 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway before a 13th place at the 2022 Enjoy Illinois 300 presented by TicketSmarter at World Wide Technology Raceway. As for his performance at Sonoma Raceway, Bowman has two top 10s in five starts there.
Kevin Harvick (odds)
Here’s what we said about Harvick in our 2022 Toyota / Save Mart 350 sleepers preview:
Ranked third in the standings with 438 points, Bryon comes across as a tasty sleeper, considering this price. And that’s not to mention that he’s already got two wins this season. He’s been shaky over his last few races, but the trust should still be there for those hunting for a sleeper pick. With four top 5s in 12 starts, it should just be a matter of time before Byron heats up again. He has a couple of top 10s in two of his last three starts at Sonoma Raceway, including a ninth-place at the 2021 Toyota / Save Mart 350.
LONG SHOT
Michael McDowell (odds)
McDowell is winless so far this season but he has five top 10s in 12 starts. Plus, he finished in the top 8 in two of his last five starts.
Writer’s Prediction
Chase Elliott wins the 2022 Toyota / Save Mart 350
