Betting on the UTSA Roadrunners (+1.0)
Record: 11-2 Overall/8-0 Conference
UTSA finished the regular season undefeated in Conference USA play and its only two losses so far this year came at the hands of ranked teams. The Roadrunners opened the season with a thrilling 37-35 overtime loss to then-No. 24 Houston Cougars, which was an early sign of how special this UTSA team is. The school’s second loss came in a 41-20 defeat on the road against the then-No. 21 Texas Longhorns. While UTSA was dominated by the Longhorns, the Roadrunners weren’t downright embarrassed either. The Roadrunners will be carried in this upcoming game by its high-flying offense which is 11th in the nation with 37.6 points per game and again 11th in total offense with 480.6 total yards per outing. They are completing nearly 70 percent of their passes.
UTSA is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games overall.
Betting on the Troy Trojans (-1.0)
Record: 11-2 Overall/7-1 Conference
For the first time since 2018, Troy is going bowling. The Trojans are riding a 10-game win streak and are coming off a 45-26 win over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in the 2022 Sun Belt Championship Game. Troy’s defense has played a major role in the success of Troy this season and it is confident it can handle the attack of UTSA. The Trojans are allowing only 17.6 points and 322.3 total yards per contest, seventh and 16th in the nation, respectively. The Trojans are quick to the ball and rarely allow opponents to pick up big yards in single plays. The Trojans are eighth nationally with 4.6 yards surrendered per contest.
Troy is 4-0 against the spread versus a team with a winning record.
Writer’s Prediction
Troy wins, 29-26.
