Draw: When, where, and how it’s done
[sc:Other240banner ]Last Friday, the organizers of the 2015 Wimbledon held the draw at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.
The computerized draw is an important part of Wimbledon because it assigns all of the matches in the first round. It’s important to note that the draw is done randomly. That being said, it still follows a simple system to prevent top seeded players from meeting early in the single-elimination tournament. Nobody wants to see Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic duke it out from the get go. You want to see them meet in the later rounds.
To ensure a balanced field, the top 32 players—seeded before the draw—are removed from the draw. But don’t worry, they will be randomly placed later when the when the rest of the participants have taken their spots in the bracket.
