San Francisco – and Cleveland – have become a big draw for bettors because of their embarrassing winless streaks deep into the 2017 NFL season. It becomes a question between odds and probabilities. The 49ers have to defy the odds due to the simple fact that the law of probabilities would have them winning eventually. Sure, with San Francisco 49ers are visiting the Philadelphia Eagles (who have won six of their last seven games) and are coming off of a 40-10 loss at home to the Dallas Cowboys so the chances of them pulling off a straight up win are dismal. Yeah, they probably won’t win, but can they keep it close enough to make it interesting for ATS bettors?

Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (0-7)
The 49ers are in a complete rebuilding mode, but have had a punchless offense for most of the season. Sunday afternoon was more of the same as the offense struggled to move the ball against Dallas. Rookie CJ Beathard got the start but didn’t much against an injury ridden Dallas secondary. He finished the game 22-38 for 235 yards without a touchdown or a turnover.
The Eagles secondary is full of holes and were picked apart by Kirk Cousins, but whether it’s Brian Hoyer or the rookie Beathard, you shouldn’t expect much from the 49ers passing attack. Carlos Hyde does not have an effective offensive line, and couldn’t get much done versus the Cowboys front seven. He carried the ball 14 times for 68 yards but didn’t find the end zone.
Hyde has only had two impactful games this season and is averaging 60 yards per game on the ground. Don’t look for a big performance in this one as he will fail to crack the 70 yard mark. The 49ers defense was horrible against the Cowboys. Ezekiel Elliott was able to run through the defense as he had a 72 yard touchdown catch on a screen, and over 145 yards rushing with 2 more scores on the ground. Against the Eagles running game I don’t see the 49ers doing anything of significance.
Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (6-1)
Carson Wentz is rapidly becoming one of the most improved QB’s in the NFL, and the Eagles sit at the top of the NFC at 6-1. His Monday Night Football performance included 4 touchdown passes and a number of key scrambles. This offense seems to be in a rhythm and they won’t slow down against the San Fran secondary.
Wentz should finish the game over 300 yards passing and 3 touchdowns in an easily winnable contest. The Eagles offensive line couldn’t open up holes for LeGarrette Blount, who ran the ball 14 times for 29 yards. He was held out of the end zone but it won’t surprise me to see him run for over 75 yards and a score.
Zach Ertz had a great game against the Washington defense, as he scored and hauled in 5 passes for 89 yards. He should be in store for another big game against the Niners, as Jason Witten was able to find holes in the secondary for a great performance. The Eagles defense gave up a lot of big plays to Kirk Cousins and the Washington receivers highlighted by Jordan Reed grabbing 2 touchdown passes.
Writer’s Prediction:
The Eagles are clicking on all cylinders and should continue to stay at top of the NFC with an easy victory. Wentz will have another huge game and lead the Eagles to victory. Pick: Philadelphia Eagles (-13)
