Charley Hoffman

Charley Hoffman

[sc:Golf240banner ]Charley Hoffman captured the imagination of sports fans everywhere with a stunning victory at the OHL Classic last year. He shot a final-round 66 to rally back from a three-shot deficit and end a four-year victory drought. It was Hoffman’s first victory in the PGA Tour since the 2010 Deutsche Bank Championship, a span of 108 starts.

Hoffman’s 2015-16 PGA Tour season is off to a rocky start, though, missing the cut in last month’s Shriners Hospitals event. He struggled mightily with his drive in that tournament, posting a measly 28.57 percent clip in driving accuracy. Hoffman will need to address that specific part of his game for him to stand a chance of recording back-to-back titles.

Russell Knox

Russell Knox

Russell Knox will head to the OHL Classic with momentum on his side following his thrilling victory at the HSBC Champions event last week. Knox shot a four-under 68 in the final round to record a two-shot victory over Kevin Kisner. It was a historic night for Knox who became the first golfer to win on his World Golf Championship debut. What made the feat even more impressive was that the Scot had never won on the PGA Tour in 92 previous tries.

Key to Knox’s sudden resurgence has been his excellent approach play. He is 13th in the PGA Tour in greens in regulation percentage, posting a solid 80.16 percent clip. That will come in handy when dealing with the tough and tricky greens of the El Camaleon Golf Club. With his appearance at Playa del Carmen this week, Knox will be the only golfer to play in each of the first five weeks on the fall schedule.

Keegan Bradley

Keegan Bradley

One golfer who’s primed to end his victory drought this week is Keegan Bradley. The American, who will be making his first start at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, is playing some solid golf at the start of this season. He is 40th in the PGA Tour in driving distance, averaging 306.0 yards per drive this campaign. He’s also putting those powerful drives in play, posting an impressive 70.24 driving accuracy percentage, good for 15th in the PGA Tour.

That will be a major weapon for Bradley when tackling the 6,987-yard, par-71 El Camaleon course. Bradley, a three-time winner on the PGA TOUR in the past four years, will be a definite threat for the title this week.
