Tim Clark

Tim Clark captured the imagination of golf fans everywhere with a stunning victory at the RBC Canadian Open last year. He shot a five-under-par 65 in the final round to edge past overnight leader Jim Furyk by a single shot. Clark was on fire down the stretch as he birdied five of his final eight holes. It was a remarkable victory for Clark who ended his long four-year win drought.

[sc:Golf240banner ]Unfortunately for Clark, he has failed to carry the momentum of that win to this season. He has finished in the top-25 just once in the PGA Tour this year. He has missed the cut in his last two starts at the Travelers Championship and John Deere Classic. That being said, you can never rule out the South African’s chances this week because of his vast experience here. Clark, who was forced to cancel his British Open plans because of visa problems, will look to become the Canadian Open’s second back-to-back champion since 1951. He is pegged at +6,000 to do just that.

Hunter Mahan

Hunter Mahan

Another golfer who loves competing here at the RBC Canadian Open is veteran Hunter Mahan (+3,000). He was in prime position to win this event back in 2013, leading the tournament at the halfway point. He decided to walk away, however, from that 36-hole lead to attend to the birth of his first child.

Mahan will look to take care of some unfinished business as he makes his grand return to Glen Abbey this week. He was in scintillating form prior to his withdrawal two years ago, shooting a 13-under-par total in the first two rounds. With his familiarity with the golf course, look for Mahan to get some low scores and be in contention once again this weekend.

Brooks Koepka

Brooks Koepka

Brooks Koepka has had an excellent start to the season thus far, finishing in the top 20 in six of his 12 starts this year, including a thrilling victory at the Phoenix Open last January. Key to Koepka’s superb play this year has been his phenomenal driving. He is 10th in the PGA Tour in driving distance, averaging 306.0 yards per drive this season. Thanks to that extreme length, Koepka is now sixth in the PGA Tour in scoring with an impressive 69.716 average.

That tremendous power off the tee will come in handy for Koepka when tackling the long 7,273-yard, par-72 Glen Abbey Golf Course. With the form that he is in right now, expect Koepka (+2,000) to be in the hunt once again this coming Sunday.
