Experts Picks and Predictions for the 2015 Wimbledon Women’s Singles

Bleacher Report

Expert Pick
Alex Ballentine Serena Williams

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report is riding high on the Serena Williams bandwagon ahead of Wimbledon. Williams hasn’t lost in the first round of a Grand Slam tournament since 2012, and it seems like she’s on a whole ‘nother level compared to the rest of her competition this season.

[sc:Other240banner ]Right behind Williams on the Women’s Singles odds, Petra Kvitova (+350) hasn’t gone past the fourth round of a Grand Slam since winning last year’s Wimbledon. She’s also 1-5 in her career against Williams. Maria Sharapova has exited in the fourth round in three of her last four appearances in the Majors. Victoria Azarenka’s best finish was in the quarterfinal of the 2014 U.S. Open.

A confident Williams would be very difficult to beat. She shouldn’t run out of self-confidence considering she handled the past two Grand Slams while battling through illnesses and injuries.

Sports Illustrated

Expert Pick
Jon Wertheim Serena Williams

Sports Illustrated’s Jon Wertheim also believes Williams should overcome anything in her way to win the sixth Wimbledon title of her career. The world No. 1 already won Roland Garros, historically her worst major, while battling the flu and injury, so she should be just fine on grass. A potential blockbuster showdown against sister Venus could be distracting, but Serena has won five of their last six meetings.

Williams also has that aura of an unbeatable champion about her. That aura of confidence is what, Wertheim notes, separates her from the rest of the field. Williams is EVEN to win the 2015 Wimbledon Championship.

The Roar

Expert Pick
The Roar Serena Williams

Top Australian sports site, The Roar, also believes that Serena Williams would win the 2015 Wimbledon Championship. Williams has been nothing but dominant this year. After winning this year’s French Open, Williams became the first woman since Jennifer Capriati in 2001 to win the Australian and French Opensin the same season.

It’s not too far-fetched to believe that Williams can win three-straight majors titles this year. She held all four of the Grand Slam titles simultaneously in 2002-2003. Williams will have to face some adversity, though. She hasn’t won a grass court title since winning the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games. She also hasn’t gone past the fourth round at Wimbledon since claiming the title in 2012.
