Pittsburgh Steelers (1.5) at Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5) (Sun, Jan. 15, 1:05 PM ET)
The Steelers were the favorites in this matchup when lines were released the first until Ben Roethlisberger was spotted in a walking boot. That was after Pittsburgh laid Miami to rest in the wild card round, 30-12. But hey, the latest update is encouraging with Big Ben reportedly no longer sporting that boot. A healthy and playing Roethlisberger should scare Kansas City.
The Chiefs certainly haven’t forgotten the time when the Steelers quarterback tossed five touchdowns with no interceptions in a 43-14 demolition of Kansas City in Heinz Field back in Week 4.
Writer’s Prediction: Pittsburgh (+1.5) wins, 24-21
Green Bay Packers (+4.5) at Dallas Cowboys (-4.5) (Sun, Jan. 15, 4:40 PM ET)
All hell will break lose this Sunday in Arlington, where the Packers and the Cowboys see each other. We spoke of the devil’s lair to open up this paragraph not entirely for the sake of cliché but partly because of the seemingly diabolically good play of Aaron Rodgers of late. Rodgers has been out of his mind in leading the Packers to a seven-game win streak, during which he has passed for 2,029 yards, 19 touchdowns with no interceptions on 69.6 completion percentage. Sick.
Of course, the Packers won’t likely have Jordy Nelson (broken ribs) against Dallas but with Rodgers on fire, the Packers should be more than fine with Randall Cobb and Davante Adams as their top options downfield. Dallas beat the Packers, 30-16, at Lambeau Field in Week 6, but Rodgers then wasn’t the kind of Aaron Rodgers we’ve seen torture opponents over the past several weeks like they did something wrong to Olivia Munn.
Writer’s Prediction: Green Bay (+4.5) wins, 27-25.
