Novak Djokovic

Djokovic’s season has been underwhelming and ravaged by injuries, but he remains to be the man to beat in Paris. Apart from entering as the three-time defending champion, the Serbian superstar is known for his astonishing prowess on the hard courts, where he carries an impressive 39-4 season. Although this upcoming tournament will be played indoors, it shouldn’t prevent him from performing at his best. The only concern, though, would be his health, particularly his injured elbow that forced him to withdraw from the China Open.

Andy Murray

No other player in the world right now has a better shot of dethroning Djokovic than Murray, this year’s Wimbledon champion and gold medal winner in the Rio Olympics. He’s 10-24 all-time against the Serbian, but has faltered in their previous two showdowns.

Nevertheless, Murray’s form is so good right now that seeing him fail to secure the trophy in Paris would be shocking. Prior to a quarterfinals exit in Vienna, the Scotsman won it all in his previous two tournaments (Shanghai and Beijing). He’s also 32-5 on hard courts this season.

Juan Martin Del Potro

It’s so nice to see Delpo, who settled for a silver-medal finish in the Rio Olympics, dominating the competition again. And speaking of dominating, that’s what he exactly did in Stockholm, where the 28-year-old Argentine won all of his matches in straight sets to ultimately claim his first ATP crown since 2014. He also owns a win each against Murray and Djokovic this year, giving us another proof of just how capable Del Potro currently is.

Gael Monfils

There are a total of seven French players participating in the Paris Masters, including the sixth-seeded Gael Monfils, who, by far, has best shot to take the crown among his fellow compatriots.  Monfils is surely going to be pumped up by the crowd in each of his matches, so expect to see a lot of energy, confidence and swag from his play. He also made two-straight runner-up finishes in the 2009 and 2010 edition of this tournament, including a three-set loss to Djokovic in the former year.

Fabio Fognini

Fognini almost brought home his second ATP title this year in Moscow, where he blasted his way into the finals before succumbing to the eventual winner Pablo Carreno Busta in three sets. Fognini, however, failed to build on his momentum in the following event in Vienna, falling out of the opening round in an unlucky matchup with Albert Ramos-Vinolas, who resoundingly overwhelmed him in two sets.

Writer’s Prediction

Murray’s playing complete tennis right now, so we’re expecting him to win his first Paris Masters title.
