2016 ATP Wimbledon Championships Men’s Singles Sleeper Picks and Predictions

The 2016 Wimbledon Championship begins later this month (June 27-July 2016) and millions of tennis fans are probably turning their attention to the likes of Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Roger Federer. Don’t forget the sleepers though, three of which we have listed and discussed briefly below.

2016 Wimbledon Men’s Singles Sleepers

Richard Gasquet (+7,500)

With odds of +7,500, bettors should be taking a hard and long look at Gasquet, who may be better than what his Wimbledon betting price suggests. Perhaps the long odds was partly the result of a lackluster performance in the recent ATP Aegon Championship in London, wherein he struck out right in the first round with a loss to Steve Johnson. Then again, Gasquet showed up form in last month’s French Open, where he won back to back against Nick Kyrgios and Kei Nishikori, respectively, before getting booted out by Andy Murray in the quarterfinals.

Kei Nishikori (+2,000)

Speaking of Nishikori, the 26-year-old Japanese may be due for a breakout performance in Wimbledon. Nishikori has yet to get past the fourth round of the tournament, reaching the fourth round just once, and the third twice. Nishikori, however, has from time to time displayed the knack for pushing elite contenders to the hill. Take for example his performance in the 2014 US Open, in which he beat Novak Djokovic in the semis.

Grigor Dimitrov (+3,300)

Dmitrov is mired in a rough stretch, as he has lost all of his past five matches. That includes a first round exit during the French Open, losing to Viktor Troicki right out of the gate. If anything, this skid has only caused sportsbooks to give Dimitrov even longer odds. Still, Dimitrov has sometimes shown flashes of brilliance that shock even the experts. Remember, it was just two years ago when he reached the semifinals of the 2014 Wimbledon tournament.
