2016 Food City 500 Experts Picks and Predictions

Sports Chat Place

Expert Picks
Randy Chambers Kyle Busch*, Joey Logano, Matt Kenseth , Kyle Larson, Kaysey Kahne

*denotes winner pick

Randy Chambers is moving on from the Duck Commander 500 and into Food City 500 at the Bristol Motor Speedway. It’s been a tricky race to pick considering that six drivers have won it at least four times. But Chambers reminds us that Sports Chat Place has picked the winner in five of the first seven NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. He has you covered with his winner and dark horse picks.

Chambers is giving us five drivers who could make the trip to victory lane at the Bristol Motor Speedway. No one is coming in hotter than Kyle Busch, who has won back-to-back races. He has now placed in the top five in 10 of his last 11 starts. Busch is dominating the Sprint Cup and has finished no worse than 11th in 12 of his last 13 races.

Busch has a great shot at winning the Food City 500. He has won the race three times, most recently in 2011. You’ll be a fool not to pick him for this race. But if you’re looking past Busch, then you can probably get some value on Matt Kenseth. He’s the defending champion at the Food City 500. He’s finished third or better in three of his last five races in Brsitol and has led over 500 laps on this track since joining Joe Gibbs Racing.

A dark horse for this race would be Kyle Larson. He finished seventh in last year’s Food City 500, and has three top 12 finishes in four appearances at the track overall. A big outing could give the 23-year-old his first ever Sprint Cup victory.

Fantasy Racing Cheat Sheet

Expert Picks
Jeff Gutowski Kyle Busch*, Joey Logano, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards

*denotes winner pick

Jeff Gutowski of Fantasy Racing Cheat Sheet gives us his top five picks to win the 2016 Food City 500. He’s picking Kyle Busch, Joey Logano,  Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards to have some big performances at Bristol Motor Speedway. He’s also pegging Ricky Stenhouse Jr. as a dark horse for this race.

Gutowski believes that Busch has been on an absolute tear in the Sprint Cup Series. Having won back-to-back titles should give him plenty of momentum. But he’ll have a tough challenge with Logano also in the race. Logano has won the last two fall races in Bristol and has qualified in the top 10 in his last 12 appearances at the track.

Kenseth and Edwards are also pretty good picks with two and three wins at this track respectively. Stenhouse might provide plenty of value for Gutowski. He’s run only six races at Bristol, finishing in the top six in three instances. He could be a surprise winner this year.

Cappers Picks

Expert Picks
Cappers Picks Chase Elliott

Cappers Picks are very high on a dark horse for the upcoming Food City 500. They have rookie Chase Elliott winning a Sprint Cup race sooner rather than later. Driving the No. 24, Elliott has placed inside the top 10 in four of his first seven Sprint Cup point events. He cracked the top five last Saturday with a fifth-place finish at Texas. The momentum of his first top five could propel Elliott to greater heights.

Expect the Sprint Cup rookie to be at or near the front of the pack in this race.
