Tony Stewart
Tony Stewart didn’t fare well during the first race—Axalta We Paint Winners 400—at Pocono this year, but he’s stepped on the gas ever since bringing home the checkered flag at the race in Sonoma. He’s found himself inside the top 10 in four of the last six races, including a second-place finish at the New Hampshire 301. Stewart also has a series-best average winning position (8.67) in the same stretch.Kyle Larson
Unlike Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson is hoping to better or at least repeat his relatively good result (an 11th-place finish) at Pocono last June. He should be able to do so this coming Sunday, as the 23-year-old professional has performed splendidly at the Tricky Triangle throughout his career. Larson has never finished worse than 12th at that track.
And another reason to be optimistic about Larson this week is the fact that he’s coming off a solid run (5th) at the Brickyard last week.
Jeff Gordon
Speaking of last week’s race, Jeff Gordon also had a pretty inspiring run at Indianapolis. He started the race 21st before eventually finishing 13th. You can expect him to lag behind in the beginning of this week’s race, but don’t count out another strong finish coming from the veteran, who’s still filling in for the concussed Dale Earnhardt Jr. Gordon has the third-highest average finishing position along with six trips down Victory Lane at Pocono Raceway.
