Fantasy Racing Cheat Sheet
Jeff Gutowski’s Top 5
- Jimmie Johnson
- Matt Kenseth
- Kyle Busch
- Kyle Larson
- Chase Elliott
Fantasy Racing Cheat Sheet proprietor Jeff Gutowski likes Jimmie Johnson to take the checkered flag in Dover. Johnson, missed his chance to win last week’s Coca-Cola 600 after he ran out of gas, has a storied history at the track in Delaware. Gutowski notes that JJ has 10 – yes, 10 – career wins there, as well as 15 in the top-five and 21 in the top-10 in 30 starts. With that sterling track record, oddsmakers have also installed No. 48 as the No. 1 driver in terms of odds to win the race at +500.
Meanwhile, Gutowski has Matt Kenseth finishing second to Johnson, which is a bit of a surprise considering Kenseth’s only priced at +1,800 to win. However, Gutowski is going with the fact that Kenseth also has a strong history at the track. He won last year’s race at Dover, his third overall at the track. He also has 17 top-5 finishes in 36 career starts, so Gutowski expects him to at least give Johnson a fight.
Finally, Gutowski rounds out his top three win Kyle Busch. Busch came very close to finally getting his first win of the year, but could only finish second at Charlotte. Nevertheless, Busch knows his way around Dover, where he’s collected a couple of wins in his career. Busch will be one of the top contenders according to the odds, where he is currently priced at +600.

Chad Robb, fantasy NASCAR expert at FoxSports.com, has also sided with Johnson to once again come out on top at Dover. Johnson’s stats at the track are just nothing short of astonishing and historically dominant. Apart from his 10 wins, his average finishing position of 9.53 at Dover is also the best on the series, as is his 3,093 laps led.
Robb notes that Johnson actually hasn’t won in his last four races at the track, which basically qualifies as a drought for him. He doesn’t see it extending past this weekend, though, as he feels confident in Johnson’s chances of victory.

The four-person Yahoo! Fantasy NASCAR expert panel polled regularly by Fantasy Racing Cheat Sheet are split this week. Half went with the popular pick, Johnson, while the other half sided with Martin Truex Jr.
That’s not a completely out-of-left-field pick, seeing as Truex currently leads the Monster Energy Cup points standings after back-to-back top-three finishes, which included a win at Kansas. He also won at Dover at the fall last year, the second of his career at the track. Truex is a +700 contender to make it three wins this weekend.
Kevin Harvick was also another name that was in every expert’s top-three. While Harvick has not had the greatest history at the track, he did get his first and only win at Dover recently in 2015, and started on pole in 2016. He’ll be hungry to taste his first win this season, and is generously priced at +550 to do it at Dover.
