Christopher Olmstead | Kyle Busch (+1,000) |
Fox Sports enlisted the services of Fansided’s Christopher Olmstead to cover the site’s predictions for the 2017 NASCAR season. Olmstead mentioned that rising stars like Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson can all make their stamp this early in their respective careers with a victory this Sunday, but ultimately went with Kyle Busch as his top pick.
Olmstead stated that the Daytona 500 is that one race that has eluded the former Sprint Cup Series Champion’s career, and winning this week’s race will also serve as redemption from his unfortunate accident at Daytona in 2015 (his championship-winning year) and the close-but-no-cigar third-place finish from last season.

Jay Busbee | Joey Logano (+1,000) |
Nick Bromberg | Brad Keselowski (+750) |
Over at Yahoo! Sports, Jay Busbee and Nick Bromberg are both expecting a Team Penske win this Sunday, but chose different drivers to emerge victorious from that same team.
Busbee sided with 2015 Daytona 500 winner Joey Logano to capture his second title. He stated that Logano’s consistency at the event and NASCAR’s premier Cup Series in general speaks loudly of his chances at becoming the first repeat winner at the Great American Race in this decade.
Meanwhile, Bromberg went with Brad Keselowski. Like Busch, Keselowski has never won the Daytona 500, but that could very well change this weekend. Bromberg is very high on 33-year-old’s prowess on restrictor-plate races, even going as far as saying that No. 2 is – quite befittingly – the second-best driver in such races behind two-time Daytona 500 winner, Dale Earnhardt Jr.

David Scott | Ryan Blaney (+4,000) |
We brought up Ryan Blaney’s name from earlier, and he makes another appearance in this here feature as The Charlotte Observer’s pick to win it all this weekend.
The odds are somehow against Blaney from accomplishing such a feat, but the Observer’s David Scott makes a sound argument as for why the Ohio native can indeed prevail victorious. Scott took notice that there have been several surprise winners at Daytona since the turn of the millennium like Trevor Bayne, Ryan Newman and Jamie McMurray, so it wouldn’t as far-fetched that the 23-year-old Woods Brothers Racing prodigy could be the next.
Furthermore, Scott highlighted Blaney’s superb rookie campaign in 2015 (three top-5 finishes), as well as Woods Brothers’ rich history at Daytona 500 (five victories) in support of his rather stunning prediction.
