With so many good options to choose from, it’ll be a hard task to pick exactly which driver takes home the 2017 Pure Michigan 400 crown. Thankfully, there are some top NASCAR experts who have given their picks for the drivers who they think will do well in this weekend’s race. Let’s check out those picks below.
Jeff Gutowski of Fantasy Racing Cheat Sheet believes this is finally the race where Chase Elliott gets his long-awaited series win. He’s not exactly going out on a limb considering Elliott has finished second not one, not two, but three times in three starts at Michigan International Speedway. Elliott is currently priced at +1,200 to win, so if Gutowski is indeed right, a $20 wager on Elliott would win you $240.

Meanwhile, Geoff Harvey of Get More Sports didn’t exactly stick his neck out with a prediction for a winner, but he did predict that Kyle Larson will be right in the thick of things and finish in the top five. That’s also not an incredibly daring prediction seeing as Larson is one of the favorites at +450 to win the whole race, so a top-five finish should almost be expected.
Larson hasn’t been having the best of times, as he’s finished in the 20s in each of his last three races. However, Harvey believes Larson is overdue for a bounce-back performance, and with his outstanding record at Michigan – he’s got two wins at the track over the last year – it’s hard to argue against him.

The fantasy experts regularly polled by Fantasy Racing Cheat Sheet have made their picks, and three out of four – including the majority of FRCS users – have gone with Martin Truex Jr to justify his status as a +300 favorite to win in Michigan. The current leader in the points standings has been in terrific form, winning two and finishing in the top five in his last five races.
Three out of four also have Kyle Busch finishing a strong second. Busch is tied with Truex as the overall favorite at +300 to win. He doesn’t have a particularly great record at the track, but he is coming off his first win of the season a couple of weeks ago and is eager to add to his tally before the Playoffs begin.
