Betting Preview for the FireKeepers Casino 400 NASCAR Cup Series Race on August 7, 2022
Where: Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn
When: Sunday, August 7, 2022, green flag at 3:00 PM ET
Chase Elliott (+600)
You don’t expect to read anything about the favorite drivers to win races for likely the rest of the season without seeing the name of Elliott, who is having quite a dominant year. Elliott already has a total of four victories this year, with eight top 5s and 15 top 15s this year. While he is still winless in his career at Michigan International Speedway, Elliott has 10 top 10s, including three top 5s in 11 starts.
Kyle Busch (+650)
Ranked ninth in the standings with 633 points, Busch is coming off an 11th-place finish at the 2022 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard last Sunday. He now has placed inside the top 12 in two of his last three starts. He has a solitary win to date this season along with six top 5s and 11 top 10s. He has always been a strong driver whenever he’s at Michigan International Speedway, especially over his last several starts there, having finished no worse than seventh in any of his last seven appearances at the said track. He’s also cracked the top 10 there in his last nine appearances.
Kyle Larson (+700)
Larson had the misfortune of getting his start prematurely ended by accident last Sunday, so he’ll be extra eager to go all out this coming weekend at Michigan International Speedway. In any case, Larson has plenty of terrific performances there, as he has a total of three victories with six top 5s and seven top 10s in 13 career starts at Michigan International Speedway. He’s also finished each of his last two races there on the podium (both third places).
Joey Logano (+2000)
Here’s what we said about Logano in our 2022 FireKeepers Casino 400 sleepers preview:
Logano enters this weekend’s race third in the standings with already a pair of wins this season. He won the 2022 Goodyear 400 back in May and, more recently, the 2022 Enjoy Illinois 300 presented by TicketSmarter last June. He had a cold stretch in July where he placed 20th or worse in four races in a row but regained his footing a bit with a sixth-place performance last Sunday at the 2022 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard. Logano has three wins, seven top 5s, and 17 top 20s in 25 career appearances at Michigan International Speedway.
Alex Bowman (+2500)
Here’s what we said about Bowman in our 2022 FireKeepers Casino 400 sleepers preview:
Bowman is having a pretty solid year, as he’s got a win and three top 5s this season plus nine top 10s for 541 points. But he can still use a bit of insurance to further secure a playoff spot. Bowman had a DVP last week, his second in his last four starts and third in the last six, so his season has been dinged a bit by misfortune. Still, he is a driver to watch out in this weekend’s race.
Corey Lajoie (+50000)
Just 31st in the standings, Lajoie has one top a single top 10 to date this season, which was a fifth place at the 2022 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 way back in March at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Joey Logano wins the 2022 FireKeepers Casino 400.
