There is money to be made in Scottsdale. The Waste Management Phoenix Open boasts a total purse of $6.7 million, with a hefty $1.206 million of that pot going to the eventual winner. That’s excellent news for the 132-man field considering the total payout last year amounted to only $6.5 million. To put into perspective the difference in winnings, defending champion Hideki Matsuyama (+900) earned $1.17 million in prize money last year.
