FAVORITES
Jon Rahm (+900)
What’s not to like about Rahm’s chances to win this week? Rahm is coming off yet another top-10 finish, as he was a T7 in the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open. He has four top 10s in the season and has made the cut in all four starts, so far. He is also 7/7 in his career PGA TOUR starts at TPC Scottsdale.
Rory McIlroy (+900)
The Northern Irishman is going to make just his second start of the season this weekend. In his only event so far in the 2022-23 PGA TOUR campaign, McIlroy topped the field in THE CJ CUP in South Carolina last October. He also has only one appearance so far in his PGA TOUR career at TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Couse), finishing 13th in the 2021 edition of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Scottie Scheffler (+1400)
Ranked No. 2 in the world, Scheffler last saw action in The American Express 2023 last January in which he finished with a T11. He is 5/5 so far this season and has already cracked the top 10 three times. He shot a 16-under 268 in 2022 to win that year’s WM Phoenix Open.
HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS
Tyrrell Hatton (+6500)
Here’s what we said about Hatton in our 2023 WM Phoenix Open sleepers piece:
The 31-year-old pro from England is going to make just his third start of the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season and first of the year when he tees off at TPC Scottsdale this week. He finished with a T45 in the 2022 ZOZO Championship before a T13 in THE CJ CUP in South Carolina 2022. Hatton has made just one start so far in his career at TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Course) but that appearance was a 15th-place finish for him in the 2019 edition of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Billy Horschel (+8000)
Here’s what we said about Horschel in our 2023 WM Phoenix Open sleepers piece:
It’s been a while since Horschel last saw action, as his most recent PGA TOUR start was in the 2023 Sony Open in Hawaii back in January. He was not able to make the cut in that event, but he’s still 3/4 this season to date. He had a T7 in THE CJ CUP in South Carolina last October 2022 and a T30 in the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions. Horschel has got plenty of experience at TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Course), having appeared in a total of 12 PGA TOUR events there before, including a pair of Top 10s in 2020 and 2022.
LONG SHOTS
Jim Herman (ODDS)
Ranked 652nd in the world, Herman is 2/5 this season, with his best finish being a T44 in the 2022 Shriners Children’s Open. He is 0/3 in his career at TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Course).
Robert Streb (ODDS)
The 35-year-old Streb is 2/10 this season and has missed the cut in each of his last five starts.
