FAVORITES
Scottie Scheffler (+700)
There’s no question that Scheffler is one of the top golfers to watch out for this week. After all, he is the No. 2 player in the world. Plus, he’s got two twins and nine top 10s while going 13/13 so far in the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season. He is coming off a T5 at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson to extend his streak of top 11 or better finishes to six starts.
Jon Rahm (+750)
As the No. 1 ranked player in the world, Rahm is undoubtedly among the top contenders to win the 2023 PGA Championship. Rahm did not see action at the AT&T Byron Nelson last week, but in his most recent start, he placed second at the 2023 Mexico Open at Vidanta. He is 11/12 this season with four wins already and eight top 10s.
Rory McIlroy (+1200)
A two-time winner of the PGA Championship, McIlroy will go for No. 3 this week. He has not played in a lot of tournaments this season, relatively speaking, as he’s 6/8 to date. However, he’s got three top 10s, including a win at the 2022 THE CJ CUP in South Carolina.
HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS
Jason Day (+4000)
Here’s what we said about Lowryin our 2023 PGA Championship sleepers piece.
Lowry missed the cut in his most recent start, which was at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship earlier this month of May. However, he is still an impressive 8/10 with four top 25s, which includes a T5 at The Honda Classic 2023 back in February. He is 30th this season in terms of SG: Approach The Green and seventh in total driving.
Shane Lowry (+10000)
Here’s what we said about Mitchell in our 2023 PGA Championship sleepers piece.
Mitchell did not take part in the action down in Mexico, but prior to that, he cracked the top 10 with a sixth-place finish at the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. That was his fourth top 10 this season and sixth top 25. He is 13/16 this season with his best finish so far being a T4 at the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last February. Mitchell is also 3/3 with two top 10s in his career at Quail Hollow Club.
LONG SHOTS
Kevin Kisner (+75000)
Kisner is just 5/11 this season with a withdrawal (RBC Heritage). He is +7500 to win the 2023 PGA Championship.
Luke Donald (+75000)
Donald is 5/9 this season with a lone top 25 (Zurich Classic of New Orleans). He is +7500 to win the 2023 PGA Championship.
Writer’s Prediction
Rory McIlroy wins the 2023 PGA Championship.
