FAVORITES
Rory McIlroy (+750)
The Northern Irishman hasn’t seen action since the 2023 Masters Tournament where he got cut. He must be so motivated to come up with a stong showing in his start since the action at Augusta. He can find success right away at Quail Hollow Club where’s always been a strong performer. In fact, he won the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship and finished eighth and 16th in the same event in 2019 and 2018, respectively.
Patrick Cantlay (+1200)
Cantlay is still chasing his first win of the season, but he’s been alright. He has made the cut in 10 of his 11 starts so far in the 2022-23 PGA TOUR campaign. He came close to topping the field at the 2022 Shriners Children’s Open last October with a T2 there. Cantlay has also been extra impressive of late, having cracked the top 15 in each of his last four starts and the top five in each of his last two. He had a third-place finish at the 2023 RBC Heritage and a T4 at the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Tony Finau (+1600)
What’s not to like about Finau’s chances to win again this week? He’s been on a roll this season, having already collected two wins. The second of which he bagged just last week at the 2023 Mexico Open at Vidanta. He is 12/13 this season with four top 10s and 10 top 25s.
HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS
Tommy Fleetwood (+4000)
Here’s what we said about Fleetwood in our 2023 Wells Fargo Championship sleepers piece.
In his most recent start in the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season, Fleetwood finished with a T15 at the 2023 RBC Heritage. He has now made the cut in each of his last seven starts overall. His best performance to date this season was a T3 at the 2023 Valspar Championship last March. That was also his highest finish since a T4 at the 2022 THE CJ CUP in South Carolina back in October. He was 14th in the 2021 edition of the Wells Fargo Championship.
Keith Mitchell (+5500)
Here’s what we said about Mitchell in our 2023 Wells Fargo Championship sleepers piece.
Mitchell did not take part in the action down in Mexico, but prior to that, he cracked the top 10 with a sixth-place finish at the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. That was his fourth top 10 this season and sixth top 25. He is 13/16 this season with his best finish so far being a T4 at the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last February. Mitchell is also 3/3 with two top 10s in his career at Quail Hollow Club.
LONG SHOTS
Matt Wallace (+17500)
Wallace is just 7/16 this season but he’s also got a win (2023 Corales Puntacana Championship) and two top 10s.
Mark Hubbard (+20000)
Hubbard has made the cut just 10 times out of 20 starts this season, but he’s cracked the top 20 in two of his last three starts, including a T11 at the 2023 RBC Heritage.
Writer’s Prediction
Tony Finau wins the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship.
