2017 Wells Fargo Championship Expert Picks and Predictions – PGA Golf Betting Preview

The Wells Fargo Championship will look a little different in years past, as the tourney shifts to Eagle Point in Wilmington, North Carolina. It’s the first time in the event’s history that it won’t be held at Quail Hollow.

Beyond that, though. we can expect the same type of intense competition from world class golfers. One name stands tall above the rest, but we shouldn’t be surprised if he gets upset by the other big names on the field.

Below are what the experts are picking. To know our own picks here for TopBet, CLICK HERE.

Golf Shake

Expert Pick
Derek Clements Dustin Johnson

Dustin Johnson (+2800), currently ranked as the number one golfer in the world, is arguably the easiest pick for all the upcoming golf tournaments. The dude has been killing it on the course, as evidenced in the trio of titles he has won this year – Genesis Open, World Golf Championship-Mexico Championship, and World Golf Championship-Dell Technologies Match Play. Though the recent back injury made him opt out of the Masters, do know that it is not deemed to slow him down.

Like most golf fans, Golf Shake writer Derek Clements is a firm believer of Johnson despite the health concerns. He noted the admiration for his work ethic, clutch play, and versatility.

Expert Picks
Randy Chambers Bill Haas, Dustin Johnson, Jim Furyk, Patrick Reed

Bill Haas (+2,800) – What makes Haas a good consideration is his good stats entering the tournament. He has seven top-25 finishes in the 11 events he has played in, while also listing 13th in greens in regulation percentage, 15th in scoring, and 25th in sand save percentage. Additionally, him being a hometown boy could be a good confidence booster.

Jim Furyk (+6,000) – Randy Chambers pointed out the despite the unappealing results of Furyk’s recent tournaments (one top-25 finish in his last nine events), it should be remembered that his past performances during this very event were quite good. Besides Rory McIlroy’s, Furyk’s title run in 2006 and second-place finishes in 2005 and 2014 were among the best in all of this year’s participants.

Patrick Reed (+3,300) – Reed is having a rather hot-and-cold stretch, but with the 14th place finish in last week’s Zurich Classic with partner Patrick Cantlay, Chambers believes this is the point where Reed finally breaks through. The 26-year-old has always been a consistent golfer prior to the shaky year, as he has at least one title every season since 2012.

Expert Picks
Nick Ritacco  Dustin Johnson and Wesley Bryan

Like Clements from Golf Shake, Ritacco is naming Dustin Johnson as a favorite simply because despite the injury, he believes Johnson is still the undisputed number one in the world, adding that he’ll be “sticking with the hot hand.”

As for the other pick, Wesley Bryan (+2800) can be seen as a great value pick according to Ritacco. He noted Bryan’s great overall showing and the recent big win at the RBC Heritage tournament, which he sees as a possible start of a good streak.
