Gary Woodland (+5000 odds to win)
Woodland just became a father to a new set of twins, and one could only imagine how difficult it is for him to balance his golfing with being a dad. But at least, his family is over his wife’s pregnancy, which must be a sigh of relief for them. The hope for Woodland is that after that life event, he can get back to playing a steadier brand of golf. Woodland has a win this season, a major won, when he topped the US Open back in June, which was followed by four forgettable tournaments in which he was cut twice and finished the other two outside of the top 50.
Marc Leishman (+5000 odds to win)
Leishman was cut at last week’s The Northern Trust tournament. However, there have been plenty of moments in which he’s shown some life this season. In 19 starts, he;s got a win, a pair of to three finishes, and seven top 10s. Before faceplanting at the Liberty National Golf Course, Leishman finished third at the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
Billy Horschel (+4000 odds to win)
Horschel has yet to win a tournament this season, and entered the FedExCup Playoffs just 44th overall in points. However, he’s been playing better golf of late. After getting cut at The Open, Horschel had a T9 at the World Golf Championships-Fed Ex St. Jude Invitational then followed that up with a T6 at the Wyndham Championship. Last week, he had a T21 at The Northern Trust, and in his final round the 32-year old hit 9 of 14 fairways and 11 of 18 greens in regulation, delivering an all-around great day on the green leaving zero misses on putts within 10 feet. He may very well take this momentum into this weekend’s PGA tournament.
