Odds Novak Djokovic Will Win all Four Grand Slams in the 2016 ATP Season

Mission: accomplished.

12 years and four finals appearances of battling failures and trials have finally paid off for Novak Djokovic, who won his first-ever French Open title this past weekend. And with the victory, Djokovic became only the eighth tennis player to complete the the ATP men’s singles Grand Slam.

Djoker’s 2016 campaign has simply been exceptional to say the least, and he still has a great chance to make even more history in becoming the first male player since Rod Laver in 1969 to win four-consecutive Grand Slam titles in a calendar year, otherwise known as the Golden Slam.

Can Djokovic pull off this monumental feat? Let’s find what the oddsmakers had to say about the sensational Serb’s odds of accomplishing this legendary achievement below.

Odds of Novak Djokovic Winning all Four Grand Slam Titles this 2016

Step aside, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal; Novak Djokovic is the undeniable king of the grass, hard and clay courts of the ATP now.

After winning the 2016 French Open, Djokovic has finally exorcised his Roland Garros demons and won the Grand Slam title that had eluded him for so long. Not only that, but he now a has a spotless 14-0 record in Grand Slam finals, as well as a dazzling 44-3 record and four other ATP World Tour titles under his belt this season.

Having said that, it’s quite peculiar that the oddsmakers have priced Djoker’s chances of completing the calendar-year Grand Slam at +210. Granted, only one professional tennis player has ever accomplished this feat (Steffi Graf in 1988), but the Belgrade native has simply been a supernatural force on the courts for a decade and-a-half now.

Novak Djokovic 2016 French Open celebration

Heck, Djokovic has already completed a Golden Slam of sorts already, albeit having won all four titles in succession beginning with last year’s Wimbledon crown. Then again, with his biggest challenge in the French Open having been conquered already, perhaps the popular consensus now is that the 29-year-old superstar will lose his desire to compete at his very best.

But if you take a look at Djokovic’s perennial contenders, there’s really not a whole lot going for them either. World No. 2 Andy Murray, the man that Djokovic beat at Roland Garros’ finale this past week, has lost 12 of their last 14 head-to-head encounters. Roger Federer has not been his spectacular self at all this year, and Rafael Nadal’s body has given up on him yet again.

With the Four Horsemen of the ATP realm looking more and more like a one-man show from here on out, there’s virtually nobody else left on the Tour that’s able to derail this Serbian freight train of doom. If you ask us, the -280 price of Djokovic failing to complete the Golden Slam this 2016 is quite a reach indeed at this point.
