2016 TCU Horned Frogs Football Preview
Team Strengths
No one in Fort Worth is sulking about the departures of Trevone Boykin and Josh Doctson. Sure, those two are the best and most electrifying players the Horned Frogs had over the past couple of seasons, but their absences don’t mean the end of TCU’s high-powered offense. The Horned Frogs will have either former Aggie Kenny Hill or Foster Sawyer under center. Both players are capable of running TCU’s offense but Hill might be the favorite to win the starting role, considering his experience of playing high-octane football in College Station. As for who will make the catches, KaVontae Turpin, Jaelan Austin and Jarrison Stewart are all viable options as the top target down field.
TCU’s defense is also primed to make loud noises this season with seven starters returning.
Team Weaknesses
As impressive as TCU’s defensive unit looks on paper today, the Horned Frogs still need to prove they could make plays against the run. The Horned Frogs, who are +2,500 to bring home he national title, allowed an average of 186.0 rushing yards per game last season, which wasn’t bad but wasn’t impressive either. To demonstrate further the point, consider that TCU let opponents to score 27 rushing touchdowns in 2015, third worst in the Big 12.
