UFC 204 Sleeper Picks

Leonardo Santos (+175) vs. Adriano Martins (-225)

This match features two trains meeting head on with both Santos and Martins looking to extend their respective three-fight win streaks. Santos’ last fight was back in December, when he scored an impressive first-round knockout over hotshot Kevin Lee.

Martins, on the other hand, comes into the fight on a longer layoff, having last fought in October of last year, defeating Islam Makhachev also in a round one knockout. Santos’ grappling and aggressiveness will be a key in this fight. While Martins is the bigger and stronger fighter here, Santos is aggressive and active enough to control the fight’s pace and pile up meaningful points on his way to an upset victory.

Prediction: Santos split decisions Martins.

Stefan Struve (-160) vs. Daniel Omielanczuk (+130)

Chopping down the seven-foot Struve is a tall task for Omielanczuk. Struve’s length will pose problems for the much smaller Omielanczuk, who is giving a foot to the Dutchman. Struve will mostly look to use his range to keep Omielanczuk at bay but it’s doubtful he can do that for the entire fight against Omielanczuk, who has yet to lose via knockout.

We’ve seen Struve lose before in his own game with the likes of Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson taking him down with big shots. Granted Omielanczuk is far from the caliber of those two Struve conquerors, it still shows a path for him to a victory over the Dutchman.

Prediction: Omielanczuk wins via spilt decision.

Danny Roberts (-170) vs. Mike Perry (+140)

It’s been a while since Roberts lost a match, having won all of his last six fights, including his three-round unanimous triumph against Dominique Steel back in April, which also earned Fight of The Night honors. He’s going to be in a scrap with Perry, who always brings a pack of explosives to his fights.

All of Perry’s eight career wins were knockouts, six of which came in the first round. His latest victim was Hyun Gyu Lim, whom Perry demolished last August in UFC 202.

Prediction: Perry scores a second-round knockout.
