Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (TBA)
Though playing in front of their home crowd, Philly failed to capitalize on facing the struggling Packers, as they lost 27-13. The defeat dropped the team into a 5-6 card, further separating them the ultra-competitive NFC East.
As they prepare for yet another dwindling team, Carson Wentz will simply have to be better. The sensational rookie was quiet in the recent loss, as he once again failed to throw a touchdown – the third time in their last four games.
The running game should also wake up. They were recording 118.3 yards per game coming in, but were only able to muster 81 uneventful yards Monday night.
With number one receiver Jordan Matthews suffering an ankle injury, the Eagles could look for Zach Ertz, Nelson Agholor, and Dorial Green-Beckham, for more yardage. The three have been interchanging places as the number two pass-catcher, and occasionally lead the team in receiving yards.
As for the defense, they will parade averages of 236.7 passing and 102.8 rushing yards allowed per game, which are ranked fifth and ninth in the NFL, respectively. The 339.5 total offense they give up every contest, meanwhile, is in the top three.
The Eagles have lost five straight games on the road (0-5 ATS), but they are to be trusted against the depleted Bengals.
Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (TBA)
At 3-7-1, and Pro-Bowler AJ Green and key back Gio Bernard out indefinitely, we can probably stick a fork in the Bengals’ season. They have lost three straight games and also three games out of a playoff spot in the AFC. Green and Bernard were quite valuable to the offense and they couldn’t establish a good enough record when the two were healthy.
The pair of losses have dipped Cincinnati’s already-underperforming offense into ranking 27th in scoring. It’s the team’s lowest since finishing dead-last in the category in 2008.
Jeremy Hill, Bernard’s partner in the backfield, was projected to be more productive moving forward. It didn’t start off well, as he only ran for 21 yards this past Sunday against the Ravens. He and the other backs could have another long day in their upcoming game, with the Eagles having a top-ranked ground defense. Cincy has been a non-factor in rushing in their last three outings (78.3 YPG).
For the aerial attack, the Bengals have Brandon LaFell and Tyler Boyd lined up to split his spot on the offense, and it looks like Boyd is the more promising replacement. The rookie is averaging 67 yards per game on 18.2 yards per catch since Green got hurt.
Defensively, it’s the run that they are most having trouble with. Only three teams have failed to rush for over 100 yards against the Bengals this season, and two of those teams beat them by an average of 15 points.
So, yeah. There’s just too much mess offensively and defensively.
