Betting on the Washington Redskins (PK)

Washington’s defense was sliced open by the Cardinals on Sunday, when the Redskins absorbed a 31-23 road loss in Arizona. The loss was the second straight for the Redskins, who will once again be on the road next week this time in Philadelphia. They are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games away from Landover.

Arizona had tons of success in the passing game with Carson Palmer passing for 300 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Palmer, however, is on a different level than Carson Wentz—not to mention that Arizona’s receiving corps is better than that of Philly’s— so Josh Norman and company should be able to bounce right back in this game.

Kirk Cousins is also looking forward to exploiting the Eagles’ defense that was exposed by an A.J. Green-less Cincinnati team last Sunday.

Cousins went 21 of 37 for 271 yards and a touchdown with a pick against Arizona’s tough passing defense that ranks second in the league. Philadelphia, on the other hand, is softer against the pass, allowing 244.5 passing yards per game.

Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (PK)

The Eagles’ strong 3-0 start this season now seems like a distant memory now with the team sinking deeper each passing week. Philly is now 5-7 SU and is on a three-game skid following a 32-14 beatdown at the hands of Cincinnati Sunday.

Carson Wentz was plain bad against the Bengals, completing 38 of 60 passes for 308 yards and a touchdown with three picks thrown. Of course, it didn’t help Wentz that the Eagles’ run game barely made its presence felt, as the team rushed for a mere 53 yards on 19 carries, thus putting much pressure on his arm. Up against Washington next Sunday, the Eagles might find a bigger breathing room on the ground with the Redskins run defense ranking among the worst in the league.

That should be an easier task if Ryan Mathews finds himself back on the field. Mathews was absent in the Bengals game with a knee injury. Also missing on Sunday was Jordan Matthews, who was nursing a sprained ankle. The fact that Matthews attempted to play it out on Sunday is a positive sign as far as his eligibility against Washington is concerned.

Philadelphia, which is 4-1 ATS in its last five home games, is 10th in the league in scoring defense with 20.4 points allowed per contest.
