Betting on the Cincinnati Reds

Moneyline: +103

Pitching for Cincinnati in the series finale is Sal Romano. He struggled mightily in his last start against the Boston Red Sox, allowing five runs on five hits in four innings of action. The Reds lost that ballgame, 5-4. The right-hander has gone 4-6 with a 4.42 ERA in 13 starts since joining the rotation after the All-Star break and 3-2 with a 2.95 ERA in his last seven appearances for the Reds.

As for the offense, the Reds are feeding off a hot Joey Votto right now. The first baseman is 7-of-21 (.333) in his last six games with one RBI and five walks. Votto went 1-of-3 last night against the White Sox. He leads the Reds not only in homers but also in hits, batting average, on-percentage and RBIs this campaign. Votto is 2-of-3 in his career against Milwaukee starter Brent Suter with three walks.

Betting on the Milwaukee Brewers (56-52)

Moneyline: -113

Starting for Milwaukee in this must-win ballgame is Brent Suter. He’s slowly increasing his workload since a stint on the disabled list for a rotator cuff strain, most recently pitching 5.1 innings against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. Suter allowed one run and six hits in that 4-3 win. The Brewers have now won five of their last six games with Suter on the mound. The lefty has a 3.31 ERA in his 13 starts this season.

Suter can’t do it all alone, though, and he needs the Milwaukee hitters to contribute on the offensive end as well. Expected to lead the Brewers in that department is Travis Shaw. He leads Milwaukee not only in homers but also in RBIs and hits this season. Shaw is 1-of-2 in his career against Reds starter Sal Romano with a homer and one RBI.

The Brewers (-113) take the second of their current three-game set against the Cardinals, 5-3.
