Betting on the New England Patriots (3-2)
The England Patriots will head back on the road to face rival New York Jets. The defending Super Bowl champions have the same record as the New York Jets as this will be the statement game to prove who really is the best team in the AFC East. New England have had a bit of a slow start to the season, but quarterback Tom Brady is fully healthy and ready to get another victory.
Tom Brady beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road 19-14 last Thursday night as they will have the extra couple of days to prepare for the New York Jets. Brady finished the day with 303 passing yards with a touchdown, interception and fumble.
Thankfully Brady had help from his running backs as New England rushed for 113 yards. Backs Dion Lewis and Mike Gillislee combined for those total yards and allowed Brady to open up the passing game. New England is slowly improving on their weak defense, as this is the perfect opportunity to gain momentum against a weak Jets offense.
Betting on the New York Jets (3-2)
Many thought the New York Jets had a chance of finishing the season with zero wins, however the first place Jets have the best opportunity to beat the defending Super Bowl Champions at Metlife Stadium Sunday. In the past four home games against the Patriots, the Jets have covered the spread and have upset them before. Why not again this Sunday.
Securing their third victory took some time, but quarterback Josh McCown was able to lead the Jets past the winless Browns. McCown passed for 194 yards, two touchdowns and one interceptions. This turnover almost cost them the game, but the defense of New York stood their ground.
New York is slowly improving into a top defense as they were able to force three turnovers from Cleveland and change the momentum of the game from time to time. Don’t forget New England, New York has found a new running game that has a good chance to run all over the defending champs.
Writer’s Prediction
New York has played well especially against New England in recent years and with the added prize of pushing themselves to be the best in the East, the Jets are going to surprise a lot of people this Sunday. Pick: Jets(+9.5)
