The Warriors have an axe to grind owing to their 123-117 loss to Portland just before the All-Star break which helped the Houston Rockets wrestle away from them the Western Conference’s best record. The Warriors have not taken that spot again since then, but their immediate goal is to teach the Blazers a lesson about retribution. Despite that loss to Portland, Kevin Durant’s performance in that game was not one to be forgotten. Durant scored 50 points in that game on 17-for-27 shooting. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson essentially took the backseat in that game and watched Durant weave his magic as the Splash Brothers only had 17 points apiece. The Warriors remain a deadly offensive team. They are leading the league in scoring with 116 points per game and have been even better following the break. Since the mid-season respite, the Warriors are putting up 118.0 points per game on an insane 53.5 percent shooting from the field.

They will enter Friday’s matchup with a 9-1 SU record in the last 10 meetings with the Blazers, which includes their 111-104 home win on Dec. 11.

Betting on the Portland Trailblazers (39-26)

Portland has turned a corner since beating the Warriors last month, as the Blazers have stitched together seven wins in a row following their takedown of the defending champions. It wouldn’t come as  surprise that the biggest reason for the Blazers’ recent surge is Damian Lillard, who has time and time again reminded fans what time it is: it’s Dame Time. Lillard is averaging 31.6 points since the start of the season’s second half. He had 44 points in the win against the Warriors, and dropped 37 in the 111-87 win over New York last Tuesday. He seems to be far from cooling down, but he is also getting ample help from backcourt partner CJ McCollum, who is putting up 21.6 points per game this season. McCollum had 29 in February’s win against Golden State. Al-Farouq Aminu and Jusuf Nurkic will also play pivotal roles this Friday, as their rebounding has been crucial for the Blazers’ success. They had 14 rebounds against the Warriors last month, with Portland outrebounding Golden State, 49-41.

Portland is 9-1 SU and ATS in its last 10 games at Moda Center.

Writer’s Prediction:

Golden State wins, 113-104.
