Mourinho and his Manchester United club is aching to get a title this season after failing to top the EPL and get anything from the UEFA Champions League. It’s the same goal for Chelsea, who is targeting their eighth FA Cup title in club history.
Manchester United would love to win the FA Cup Finals, especially considering that they are only an FA Cup Finals win short of tying Arsenal for the most in the tournament’s history. At present, the Red Devils have 12 FA Cup titles. It was also not that long ago when they last won the tournament, as they defeated Crystal Palace in the 2016 edition of the FA Cup Finals. Manchester United will enter the match with some bit of psychological advantage having beaten Chelsea in the Premier League back in February, 2-1. The Red Devils’ terrific defense will also be a key for the team’s success in this match. Jose Mourinho’s club has allowed the second fewest goals in the EPL with 28. They also own the most clean sheets in their domestic league with 19. As for the scoring, Manchester United have striker Romelu Lukaku, who led the team with 16 goals in the EPL. Lukaku scored and assisted in the aforementioned win over Chelsea in February.
Chelsea settled missed out of the top four in the EPL and settled for fifth place to earn a ticket to the Europa League next season. They can still take home a hardware if they win over Manchester United at the FA Cup Finals. The February loss to Manchester United was a huge missed opportunity for Chelsea, as they found the back of the net first when Willian scored at the 32nd minute of the match before surrendering two goals to Manchester United. In addition to that, Chelsea also had the possession of the ball most of the time and had more shots, 14-10. Consistency throughout the entire match will be crucial for the Blues who took a 3-0 beating at the hands of Newcastle on May 13. Eden Hazard leads the team with 12 goals, while Alvaro Morata has 11.
