Betting on the Bowling Green Falcons (22-11 Overall / 12-6 Conference)

Bowling Green is going bowling in the finals of the MAC Tournament. That’s after the Green Falcons staved off the Northern Illinois Huskies in the semifinals on Friday, 71-65. The Green Falcons had a comfortable 23-point lead at the half, but nearly succumb to Northern Illinois’ rampage in the second half in which the Huskies outscored Bowling Green, 55-25. Prior to that win, Bowling Green thumped the Ball State Cardinals, 99-86. Buffalo is the best team in the MAC and is the only ranked team from the league, but the Green Falcons are not intimidated one bit. After all, they defeated Buffalo at home back in February, 92-88. Bowling Green went all out in that game and played aggressive from start to finish, which was evident in the 36 free throw attempts (24 made) they had compared to just 19 by Buffalo. The tandem of Justin Turner and Dylan Frye will most likely dictate the fate of Bowling Green in the finals. Turner, who leads the team with 18.4 points per game, had 25 points in the win over Buffalo, while Frye (12.7) had 22.

Bowling Green, which also leads the conference with 44.6 rebounds per game, is 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in last four games against Buffalo.

Betting on the Buffalo Bulls (30-3 Overall / 16-2 Conference)

The Bulls booked a ticket in the finals of the MAC Tournament after beating the Central Michigan Chippewas, 85-81, on Friday. It was not an easy win for the Bulls, though, as they needed CJ Massinburg to deliver in the clutch for them to pull through. Massinburg, the team’s leading scorer and reigning MAC Player of the Year, finished with 21 points to go with nine rebounds. He hit a layup and drilled four crucial freebies late in the game, and his heroics and leadership will be needed once again in another matchup with Bowling Green. Massinburg, who is averaging 18.3 points per game, had 26 points in the loss to the Green Falcons and 15 in an 84-73 win over Bowling Green on Mar. 8. Buffalo has the best offense and defense in the conference, per KenPom’s metrics. The Bulls averaged 84.7 points per game in the regular season, and their scoring hasn’t declined in the postseason, having scored at least 84 points in two of their last four games.

The under is 5-2 in Buffalo’s last seven games.

Writer’s Prediction

Buffalo wins, 85-75.
